Biotechnology-derived genetic traits in commercial crops can be expedited using new plant breeding technologies, including gene-editing. Our team has extensive expertise using multiple gene-editing platforms, including CRISPR and MAD7. Our gene-editing platform of choice is MAD7 due to the favourable licensing process and reduced costs to develop gene-edited crop varieties.
Our gene-editing pipeline begins with candidate gene selection through discovery-based research. Once a suitable candidate gene has been identified, our group sequences and identifies potential target sites for guide RNA complexes within the gene DNA sequence. Once target sites are confirmed, we test our gRNA target using a MAD7 in-vitro assay. Following validation of suitable gRNA, we design and assemble the gene-editing construct using our proprietary technology and deliver it into desired plant cells. We can deliver the gene-editing system based on the end user’s preference.
In addition to MAD7 gene-editing, our team has significant experience and expertise developing crop biotechnologies through the use of gene overexpression, RNA interference, and development of mutational populations.
